This article focuses on the patient safety aspects of the revised AORN “Recommended practices for minimally invasive surgery” (MIS). Key considerations include ensuring proper fluid management practices, assessing patients for risk factors related to MIS, implementing precautions for electrosurgery, planning for risks related to MIS, and assessing patients postoperatively for potential complications related to MIS. Collaboration and collegiality among members of the surgical team are essential for ensuring all pertinent aspects of care are recognized and considered.
