ursing is a field that has changed a great deal in the last 50 years. Specialized technicians have taken over a large part of nursing care. Rising patient acuity has demanded more complex skill sets. The nursing shortage has necessitated the most efficient usage of staff and resources. Three of the most important steps in meeting future challenges are effective utilization of technology, increased tolerance of diversity, and improved hiring and retention of talented nurses.
