The EZOP Poland study was the first national survey in the country using methodology elaborated and tested in the World Mental Health Survey Initiative (WMH) enabling planning and implementation national epidemiological research on mental health and disorders associated with alcohol and other psychoactive substances. This paper aims to present an estimate of the number of children below 18 years of age whose parent suffered from mental and behavioural disorders due to alcohol use. Results of the study show that over 900 thousand children and young people under 18 have a parent with alcohol related disorders, which constitutes almost 13% of children of this age group. This percentage varies between 11% in the group of children under 4 years of age and nearly 15% in the group aged 13-17
