Serotonergic drugs that produce bebavloural a l terat ions such as tremor and hyperact iv i ty also modify the b loe lec t r ica l a c t i v i t y of the o-cb system, dr iv ing a rhytmic and sincronic f i r i n g of the o cb neurons Therefore the aim of th is study was to correlate the occurrence of the modifications in the b ioe lec t r i ca l a c t i v i t y with the behavloural a l terat ions induced by drugs related to serotonin; and also to determine the age of onset of i ts ef fects in maturing rabbi ts. Experiments were performed on of spring "new zeeland" rabbits from 1 to 25 days old, submitted to behavioural observations under drug ef fects in two models: open f i e l d and a c t i v i t y cages. In a para l le l series of experiments, b ioe lec t r i ca l o-cb unit ce l l a c t i v i t y was also observed, in this case drug applicat ion was carr ied out by the general route and also by mlcroiontophoresis. Our results shown a d i f fe ren t time of onset of quipazlne and harmaline ef fects at behavioural and bioe lec t r i ca l levels. Oulpazine was active since the Is t postnatal day whereas harmaline effects was manifested from the 8th postnatal day on. PCP produce a dose dependent inh ib i t i on of the o l ivary and Purkinje cel l discharges. Methysergide and TR2515 antagonized th is ef fects . These results allow us to suggest: I ) d i rect serotonim receptor act ivat ion done by qulpazine; 2) harmalinm needs a level of maturatlon of serotonergic af ferentat ion to the ol ive to exert i t s e f fects ; 3) PCP action involves other amlnerglc systems. These experiments reinforce the par t ic ipa t ion of the o-cb system in the control of motor behavlour and i ts maturation.
