Puerperal adynamic ileus includes acute mild and severe clinical manifestations. Acute severe puerperal adynamic ileus may constitute the clinical indication of a serious underlying disease, such as sepsis, rupture of uterus, intra‐abdominal or retroperitoneal bleeding, ureteral pathology, intra‐abdominal foreign body and internal diseases. Sometimes the diagnosis requires abdominal and chest X‐ray, uterine exploration and intravenous pyelography. Surgical treatment requires proper previous general evaluation; and fluids, electrolytes and plasma should be provided.
