Circulating levels of placental protein 5 (PP5) were studied in patients with severe pre‐eclampsia and eclampsia. Elevated PP5 levels were frequently observed in the eclampsia group. This elevation may be due to disturbance in endogenous coagulation mechanisms at the placental site.
