Functional endothelin and angiotensin receptors have been expressed in Xenopus oocyte following the microinjection of rat heart mRNA. Under voltage clamp conditions, application of these peptides clearly induced oscillatory Ca 2+ ‐activated chloride currents in a dose‐dependent manner. In addition, no direct modulation of expressed or native cardiac Ca channels was observed.
