Allophycocyanin (APC) α‐ and β‐subunits were isolated from Anabaena cylindrica and their amino acid sequences were determined. The α‐ and β‐subunits consisted of 160 and 161 amino acid residues, respectively, and lacked tryptophan. The β‐subunit contained an unknown derivative of aspartic acid. The sequences were compared with those of other allophycocyanins.
