The specificity of pig brain protein kinase towards high‐ and low‐M r ‘analogs’ of protein substrate was studied. Solvolysis of the phosphoenzyme intermediate by various nucleophilic agents is shown. The transition state structure of the phosphoryl transfer reaction is discussed.
