We have succeeded in growing Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker's yeast) on media containing 2 H 2 O and isolating the core histones highly deuterated in the non‐exchangeable positions. The deuterated histones obtained here are of great value for their possible widespread use for structural studies of chromatin.
