Abstract Many of the uses of oils and fats in cosmetics are the same as those of antiquity. However, technical progress has taken these natural materials apart and put them together differently. So now cosmetic chemists have the advantages of both natural and man‐made fats and oils. Furthermore, today there are available a variety of antioxidants which extend the shelf life of cosmetics made with them.
