The root oil of Paeonia emodi was analyzed. Unsaponifiable lipid was found to contain a mixture of n ‐alkanes C14–C33; β‐amyrin, butyrospermol, cycloartenol, lupeol, 24‐methylenecycloartanol; two unidentified triterpene diols; cholesterol (?), campesterol, and sitosterol.
