Summary Eggs from hens fed gossypol Schiff bases derived from various aromatic and aliphatic amines were examined spectrophotometrically for gossypol‐cephalin. Aniline, p‐aminobenzoic acid, dehydroabietylamine, and cyclohexylamine were not effective gossypol binders when the Schiff base was fed at the 0.5% equivalent gossypol level in the diet whereas the long chain aliphatic amines were very effective. Hens produced normal eggs when fed the 0.5% level of gossypol Schiff bases derived from these amines.
