Summary A brief review has been given of the principal types of lubricating greases and of the fatty materials used therein. No attempt has been made to include a discussion of all conditions which may affect grease structure. However it has been indicated that various factors, as far as the grease itself is concerned, influence performance because they either affect the size and shape of the dispersed particles of the thickening agent, or affect the solubility relationship between the dispersed particles and the oil.
