Summary The greatest deviations in refractive index from ideal behavior of the binary wax mixtures are obtained with mixtures of vegetable waxes. These are waxes with higher unsaturation, waxes containing a higher percentage of hydroxy esters, and waxes containing glycerides or combinations of these. Melting points and refractive indices at the melting points can be determined simultaneously with the Abbe‐56 refractometer.
