Conjugated 6,8‐, 7,9‐, 8,10‐, and 9,11‐octadecadiynoic acids were prepared. In the oxidative coupling of 6‐heptynoic acid and 1‐undecyne to yield the above 6,8‐acid, an excess of undecyne is required. Equal molecular amounts yield chiefly the summetrical tetradecadiyndioic acid. A method is described for the preparation of a clear cuprous chloride solution having increased catalytic activity.
