Examination of sugars in safflower hull and kernel revealed sucrose and raffinose to be predominent, with smaller amounts of d ‐glucose and d ‐fructose. Galactinol (1‐O‐ a ‐ d ‐galactopyranosylmyoinositol) and other carbohydrate material which appear to contai uronic acids, fucose, glucose, fructose and arabinose, were also present.
