Summary It has been shown that the apparent viscosities of cottonseed meal dispersions depend on the concentration of meal in the dispersion, the concentration of sodium hydroxide in the dispersion, and the addition of trichloroacetate ion and that the viscosities of the glue dispersions are independent of the nitrogen solubilities of the protein contained in the meal and, for the processes evaluated, independent of the method of removal of the oil to produce the meal.
