A simple rapid method for the estimation of the cyclopropenoid content of glycerides and methyl esters is described based upon the measurement of the characteristic infrared absorptivity of cyclopropenoids at 9.9 Ɓ. Autoxidation products do not interfere, and the sample can be recovered. Equations are given for the calculation of the cyclopropenoid content of both glycerides and methyl esters.
