Commercial cholesterol of bovine brain and spinal cord origin has been care‐fully examined for its 24‐ and 26‐hydroxycholesterol content. By alternate adsorption chromatography and chromatography on Sephadex LH‐20 26‐hydroxycholesterol was isolated from this course in 15 μg/g amounts, whereas 24‐hydroxycholesterol was not observed.
