Impregnation of SiO 2 .Al 2 O 3 (24.3% Al 2 O 3 with 6% B 2 O 3 increases the activity of supported Re 2 O 7 in the ethenolysis of methyl oleate, but reduces the activity of CH 3 ReO 3 on the same support. Re 2 O 7 /SiO 2 .Al 2 O 3 /B 2 O 3 ‐SnBu 4 is shown to be an effective catalyst for the ethenolysis of methyl linoleate and of the methyl esters of olive oil, and can be recycled after calcination at least five times without loss of activity.
