Conclusions According to the findings of the present study, the following conclusions are warranted: 1. The ability self‐concept of Chinese schoolchildren was significantly enhanced by the role‐changing procedure. Therefore, schools may be able to establish positive situations involving a change in the children's role as a means for improving children's ability self‐concepts. 2. The children's motives for achievement and their language abilities were improved by the role‐change procedure.
