We investigate the stability of the melt spinning process with respect to variations of external parameters such as the velocity and temperature of the quench air. Newtonian and non‐Newtonian models are used to describe the rheology of the polymer the fiber is made of. The critical draw ratio, indicating the onset of instabilities, is computed numerically solving the eigenvalue problem arising from the linear stability analysis.
