The paper presents an approach to the problem of testing the sensitivity of a structure to the change of its design parameters on the example of a beam. In the paper the dynamic responce of periodic‐like straight beam with variable cross section is analysed. The approach adapted in the paper is baaed on concepts of the dynamics of periodic‐like structure ]1[. In this way we are able to formulate the averaged equations of structured beams which describe the length‐scale effect.
