In the framework of a recent thermodynamic formulation of rate‐independent material behaviour as based on a loading rate function, possible effects of the plastic deformation on elastoplastic material behaviour at large deformation are discussed. In particular, attention is focused on the possible effect that such deformation may have on the material symmetry, i.e., anisotropy, of the material behaviour.
