Spiral wave patterns in chemical reactions and their dynamics have received a lot of interest in the past few years, from the experimental and from the theoretical side. We review some of the recent mathematical results addressing a bifurcation theoretic approach to meandering and drifting tip motions. Special emphasis as laid on the crucial role of euclidean symmetry.
