The paper deals with a simple model of a mechanically excited column of a highly viscous fluid. Its transient oscillations are calculated via the theory of functions. The excess pressure is obtained in the form of an infinite series. An estimate of the natural frequencies under the influence of very high viscosity, in a gravity‐free environment, is put forward in graphical form.
