The present investigation is concerned with the behaviour of a dissipative, originally axisymmetric, torquefree model gyro, that has deformation in the body‐fixed equatorial plane only. This model gyro has been devised to pick up deformations due to the centrifugal forces in the equatorial plane, and serves to describe the resulting motion.
