Abstract During assemblage of a shrink fit consisting of annular shaft and annular hub, partial or complete plastic deformation of either part can occur. If a perfectly plastic annulus is about to be fully plasticized, the interface pressure and the elastic‐plastic border radius of the other annulus, which may harden isotropically in an arbitrary way, assume stationary values. In addition to that, the case of two simultaneously fully plasticized annuli of perfectly plastic behavior is studied.
