The coupled electric and thermal evolution of a ferromagnetic body leads to a free boundary problem. A model based on the theory of “non‐equilibrium thermodynamics” is proposed. A variational inequality is obtained by transforming the unknown functions by time integration. Existence and uniqueness results are proved.
