The problem is the determination of the distribution of stress in the neighbourhood of a Griffith crack situated in an infinitely long elastic strip. The crack is opened by longitudinal elastic waves, incident normally on the crack. Fourier transforms are used to reduce the problem to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Numerical solution of this equation is used for calculating the values of dynamical stress intensity factor at the edge of the crack. The results are illustrated graphically.
