In this paper we discuss a decomposition procedure for solving a class of transportation type problems with a linear fractional objective function. The main feature of this method is to carry out the computations with the help of smaller basis whose order is equal to the number of sources. The technique provides not only a solution for the primal problem but also for the dual problem.
