A mathematical analysis of the partial differential system that describes the combined heat transfer in a laminally rotating fluid over the fixed ground, the Bödewadt problem, is presented by a reduction to an ordinary differential system by using a set of similarity transformations, that is a generalization of previously used ones due to von Kármán, Bödewadt, Millsaps and Pohlhausen, and Luk, Millsaps and Pohlhausen. For the case of forced convection the tabulated results of numerical integrations for the functions that occur in the set of similarity transformations are given, and comparisons are made with other results on the hydrodynamics that have been given by previous investigators.
