The present work is concerned with the steady state two‐dimensional thermal stress problems in a thick circular cylinder having a polygonal hole under an uniform heat generation having thermally insulated outer boundary. In the present problems, the analysis is carried out by using the complex variable approach proposed by Gatewood . Thus, we may show that the present method yields reliable solution at the inner boundary, because of the sufficient satisfaction of the temperature and traction boundary conditions at the inner boundary.
