The paper gives a computation of the buckling load for a rod with pinned ends and elastic embedding according to Wieghardt. The influence of shearing stresses on the bending is taken into account. The result is compared with the buckling load holding for elastic embedding according to Winkler. The important differences in the results of two theories are emphasized.
