The problem of steady laminar flow of a non‐Newtonian liquid in an annulus with porous walls of non uniform permeability is reduced to the problem of solving a fourth order differential equation depending on two parameters, namely, the suction Reynolds number and the inelastic number. For small values of the inelastic number series solutions are obtained (i) for small suction or blowing (ii) when the total flow into the channel through the walls is small and the non‐Newtonian effect of the liquid on surface‐friction and pressure coefficient is examined. Finally, the series solutions are confirmed by exact numerical solutions.
