With the help of vortex analogy, the use ef non‐convergent or slowly convergent series has been eliminated in calculating the deflection and the shearing forces of rectilinear plates under concentrated loads. Closed expressions for shearing forces are obtained in terms of elliptic functions and a number of new numerical results have been tabulated.
