This manuscript describes the synthesis and characterization of PONOP ligands from uracil and thymine. Rhodium chloride complexes of the ligands were synthesized and characterized by solution NMR and solid‐state X‐Ray crystallography. Cationic CO complexes were generated in situ to understand the electronic properties of these ligands and it was found that these are among the least donating of the neutral PNP type ligands at this time.
