The cover picture shows a dibutyltin(IV) complex whose overall structure is reminiscent of a butterfly. The Sn atom displays a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal coordination geometry and the adaptation of such a conformation is presumably due to the synergetic effect of chelation to the Sn atom of the sterically bulky 2‐(2‐(3,5‐dimethyl‐4‐oxocyclohexa‐2,5‐dien‐1‐ylidene)hydrazinyl)benzoate (LH) and butyl ligands which favours a syn orientation of the two LH ligands in their quinoid form, in contrast to the dimethyltin(IV) analogue in which the LH ligands lie in an anti conformation. The molecular structure is encircled by some “Yoga Poses”; they have been included to mark the first International Day of Yoga. Extensive intermolecular π···π interactions between the planar LH ligands link the molecules into extended chain motifs, which then combine through further π···π, O–H···O, C–H···O and C–H···π interactions to give 3D supramolecular frameworks. These complexes are examples of a class of infrequently observed dialkyltin(IV) complexes of composition R 2 Sn(LH) 2 (S), which occur when R 2 Sn(LH) 2 is crystallized in the presence of a coordinating solvent (S = MeOH or fortuitous water).More details are discussed in the article by Tushar S. Basu Baul and Anthony Linden on pp. 1581ff.
