The Cd II coordination polymer, [Cd(BDC)(L) 1.5 ] ( 1 ) [H 2 BDC = isophthalic acid and L = 1,4‐bis(2‐methylimidazol‐3‐ium‐1‐yl)biphenyl], was synthesized by the assembly of Cd II ion, L ligand, and isophthalic acid, respectively. Complex 1 was characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, elemental analyses, FT‐IR spectroscopy, and power X‐ray diffraction (PXRD). X‐ray structural analysis reveals that complex 1 is a 5‐connected self‐penetrated net with point symbol (4 2 .6 8 ). Furthermore, the luminescent property of the title complex is investigated.
