The lead fluoridooxidovanadates(V), Pb(V 2 O 2 F 8 ) and Pb(VOF 5 ), were synthesized from PbF 2 and VOF 3 in anhydrous HF. Their crystal structures were determined and Raman spectra recorded. Compound Pb 3 F(V 4 O 3 F 18 ) with a novel mixed valent vanadium(IV, V) fluoridooxido anion, V 4 O 3 F 18 5– , obtained as a by‐product, was also structurally characterized.
