Two new coordination polymers, [Pb(phen) 2 (dans)] n ( 1 ) and [Pb(4, 4′‐bipy)(dans)] n ( 2 ) (dans = disodium 4, 4′‐dinitrostilbene‐2, 2′‐disulfonate, phen = 1, 10‐phenanthroline and 4, 4′‐bipy = 4, 4′‐bipyridyl) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, thermogravimetry, IR spectroscopy, and X‐ray single crystal diffraction. Compound 1 is a 1D chain with Pb–O bond lengths in the range of 2.76 to 2.90 Å,. The structure of 2 is a three‐dimensional (3D) framework with (4 4 · 6 10 · 8)(3 · 4 3 · 5 2 )(4 3 · 6 3 ) topology.
