Synthesis and Characterisation of Schiff Base‐like Iron(II) Complexes with Imidazole as Axial Ligand

Four new six‐coordinate and one pentacoordinate iron(II) complexes with imidazole as axial ligand were synthesised and characterised. For two of the complexes crystals suitable for X‐ray structure analysis were obtained and an extended network of hydrogen bonds was observed in both cases. Magnetic susceptibility studies revealed, that two of the octahedral complexes are high‐spin complexes in the entire temperature range, whereas for the other two gradual spin transitions are observed.
