A first squarato‐fluoro complex of iron(III) could be prepared and characterised by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction as (imidH) 2 [Fe 2 sq 2 F 4 (H 2 O) 2 ]·2H 2 O (imid = imidazole, sq = squarate(2‐) anion). Space group P $\bar{1}$ , Z = 1, a = 8.2174(8), b = 8.4306(9), c = 8.7860(9) Å, α = 63.864(9)°, β = 78.020(10)°, γ = 79.905(11)°, R 1 = 0.0264. The structure is built by dimeric [Fe 2 sq 2 F 4 (H 2 O) 2 ] 2– anions where the iron atoms are bridged by two fluoride ions and two squarate anions acting as bidentate ligands. Two additional fluoride ions and two aqua ligands are in trans ‐ terminal positions. These anions are implemented in a hydrogen bond network including the imidazolium cations and the free water molecules.
