To explore the coordination possibilities of fluorene‐based ligands, two manganese(II) complexes with the ligand 9,9‐dibutyl‐9 H ‐fluorene‐2,7‐carboxylate ( L ) were synthesized and characterized: [Mn 2 ( L ) 2 (DMF) 3 ] ∞ ( 1 ) and [Mn 2 ( L ) 2 (DMF)] ∞ ( 2 ). X‐ray single‐crystal diffraction analyses show that complex 1 has a two‐dimensional (2D) (4,4) structure, whereas complex 2 consits of a three‐dimensional (3D) (4,5)‐connected topology framework. The results indicate that the steric bulk of the fluorene ring in H 2 L plays an important role in the formations of 1 and 2 . Additional pyridine‐based ligands govern the formation of the final frameworks of 2 . Moreover, the luminescent properties of these complexes were briefly investigated.
