Three new complexes, namely, [Ni( L ) 2 · 2H 2 O] · 3H 2 O ( 1 ), [Co( L ) 2 · 2H 2 O] (2) and [Co( L′ ) 2 · 2H 2 O] ( 3 ) ( L = 2‐propyl‐1 H ‐imidazole‐4,5‐dicarboxylate and L′ = 2‐methyl‐1 H ‐imidazole‐4,5‐dicarboxylate), were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. X‐ray diffraction analysis revealed that these complexes have zero‐dimensional (0D) structures, which are extended into different multi‐dimensional structures through hydrogen‐bonding interactions. Their crystal structures were further characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analyses. In compound 3 , the propyl group of L was transformed into a methyl group ( L′ ) by in‐situ reactions. Temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility investigations revealed antiferromagnetic interactions for compound 1 .
