The synthesis and crystal structure of EuNb 2 O 6 is reported. The compound is isotypic with SrNb 2 O 6 and crystallizes with the space group P 2 1 / c and lattice parameters a = 7.7050(1) Å, b = 5.5781(1) Å, c = 11.0032(1) Å and β = 90.35(1)°. Susceptibility measurements show no magnetic ordering down to the lowest measured temperature of 3 K. 151 Eu Mössbauer spectra clearly indicate divalent europium only.
