The two complexes {Ni(pyz) 2 (OCN) 2 } n ( 1 ) and {Ni(pyz) 2 (SCN) 2 } n ( 2 ) (pyz = pyrazine) were synthesized by diffusion of metal ion and ligand solutions through a buffer solution in U‐shaped tubes. Single‐crystals were obtained and characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Both compounds have 2D sheet structures. Either the cyanate or the thiocyanate group connects to the metal atoms as terminal ligand. The magnetic susceptibility was analyzed and a weak antiferromagnetic interaction is propagated by the bridging pyrazine ligands.
