The bromide‐bridged dinuclear platinum complex [(Cy 3 P){Br(Fc)B}Pt(μ‐Br)] 2 ( 1 ) (Fc = ferrocenyl) was synthesized by the abstraction of PCy 3 from trans ‐[(Cy 3 P) 2 Pt{(B(Fc)Br}Br] with concomitant build up of the phosphine borane adduct. This compound was shown to be a precursor for the first neutral base‐stabilized platinum borylene complex cis ‐[Br 2 Pt(PCy 3 ){B(Fc)NC 5 H 4 –4‐Me}]( 2 ). All compounds were characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy in solution and single crystal crystallographic analysis.
