Cs 5 [AgCl 2 ][CoCl 4 ]Cl 2 has been obtained as blue single crystals and the crystal structure has been determined from X‐ray diffraction data [ I 4/ mcm , Z = 4, a = 919.15(8) pm, c = 2375.9(3) pm]. The characteristic structural features are isolated complex chlorido‐anions, [AgCl 2 ] – and [CoCl 4 ] 2– , as well as non‐coordinating Cl – in this cesium‐rich compound. The title compound has been further studied by spectroscopic methods in the infrared and UV/Vis region and a description of the electronic structure for the chromophore, [CoCl 4 ] 2– , within the angular‐overlap‐model (AOM) is given.
